My Story

I am Eshal Faisal, a current CS major at LUMS and someone who was kind of able to crack the code for her O and A level exams. After a lot of tears, hard work, self-doubt, and a little bit of smartness, I was able to get 10 A*s in my O levels. Some of my batchmates went a little overboard and got 12 A*s too. Some had straight As, while some unfortunately did not get what they expected.

Plus, mind not – my batchmates and I heard the very same terrifying and scary rumors about GCSE and IGCSE-we were sold good for nothing packages, and were also made to believe that nothing in this world is possibly harder than O and A levels. So, what was it that made some stand out from the rest? This is what this blog is all about!

But, here’s the truth: The sudden drop in grades that most of us see in our internal exams right when we start O Level/IGCSE/A Level is because there needs to be a shift in your study pattern and strategies. Another reason is that you actually need to study now, buddy. Most of us are still lost in our eighth grade shenanigans when you need to give in some time to understand how your examination pattern is changed and once you understand the new approach to studying, you are good to go. Plus, no you don’t have to study 24/7 and you can perfectly get the right study/life balance as well.

Every subject code has a certain strategy associated with it and as your seniors, we understand what you might going through from a student perspective. Therefore, as people who are successfully out of that phase, we are able to offer the right guidance.

At Aquazaria, we really want to see information flow like aqua. So, me and a couple of other homies who passed with excellent O level, AQA, IGCSE, and A level results team up to provide excellent content and blogposts in all and every subject we have taken.

Advices From Distinction Holders

Some important things to keep in mind for a distinction, especially for math, add-math and physics, is that your answers need to be perfectly clear and clean as well. Minimal overwriting and to the point, and short explanations for why you chose this formula is a plus. Explanatory statements here and there (but clean) are a necessity I believe. Lastly, be consistent throughout, like using the same number of significant figures. I got a Top in Pakistan Distinction in O Level Physics (lost add-math distinction to 1 mark haha).

“For English language, I would say READ. you simply can NOT write unless you read. So for paper 2 where we’re supposed to write narratives, descriptive essays, and argumentative essays, you need to KNOW stuff, so read anything you like but do read.”

“Hard work, determination, and especially consistent practice by solving past papers were the keys that helped me achieve distinction. Stay focused and believe in yourself—you’ve got what it takes to ace it too! Wishing you all the best on your journey!”
